I come across so many amazing things on a daily basis, and I always forget to share them, so I’ve decided to put together a weekly round-up of things I’m completely in love with!
Beauty – The ‘Oils of Life’ range from The Body Shop
I have the driest skin in the universe, so for years and years I’ve just been using really heavy night creams in place of a daily facial moisturiser (which left my skin feeling pretty greasy but did the job) and avoiding toners like the plague. This totally and completely changed when I was given two of the Oils of Life products in my prize bag from Miss Pinup – the ‘Intensely Revitalising Bi-Phase Essence‘ and the ‘Intensely Revitalising Cream‘. I’m usually pretty wary of introducing new products into my regime, as my skin is pretty quick to fight back (dry skin and zits, lucky me!) but I did some research and these looked really promising!
Intensely Revitalising Bi-Phase Essence – 160ml – $47.25 NZD
“By infusing three precious seed oils from around the world, known for their revitalising and repairing properties on skin – Black Cumin seed oil from Egypt, Camellia seed oil from China and Rosehip seed oil from Chile – in to a unique bi-phase [oil + water] formula, we created the essential 1st step after cleansing: a daily lotion that provides instant visible results while preparing and activating skin for the next steps of your routine. Skin feels instantly replenished with moisture and appears softened.”
Surprisingly this lotion doesn’t feel oily or anything, which I was expecting for obvious reasons. It leaves my skin feeling refreshed and tight after cleansing, without drying it out, which is so nice!
Intensely Revitalising Cream – 50ml – $57.75 NZD
“By infusing three precious seed oils from around the world, known for their revitalising and repairing properties on skin – Black Cumin seed oil from Egypt, Camellia seed oil from China and Rosehip seed oil from Chile – in to a silky cream with perfecting micro-pearls, we created a daily cream that intensely revitalises skin, replenishes moisture and revives radiance. Signs of ageing appear visibly reduced.”
I’ve been totally blown away with the improvement to my skin, and I love being able to put on a pretty light-weight moisturiser and know that my skin will still feel nice and smooth in a few hours time.
It’s not a cheap range, so I never would have picked it off the shelf unless I knew for sure that it would do what it promises, but this really has changed my face. I’m ages away from running out, but I know I will be buying it again, and I’m really keen to try the other products in the range!
Accessories – Gum Ball Necklaces from Cobalt Heights!
Gumball Bead Necklace – Yellow, Hot Pink, Black, Lime Green – $12.50 NZD
You guys all should know by now how much I love accessories, especially when they’re colourful, so of course I was going to get a bunch of these colourful beaded necklaces as soon as I saw them! I did have to extend them a touch, but that was a super easy fix with a pair of pliers and some chain from one of the many broken necklaces I have. Don’t get me wrong, they fit fine without being extended, I just like my necklaces to sit a little lower!
I have four colours, but there are a heap more available on the website or you can order through their Facebook page.
Sian also does these crazy-cool ‘Pin Up Mystery Packs‘, which are $29 and chock full of assorted accessories – like a lucky dip for pinups! I bought one and it had a Sourpuss Purse, three blue rose hair clips, three pairs of earrings, a brooch, and some sunglasses! Total bargain material, and a really cool gift idea for the budding pinup in your life too!
Fashion – Spooksville Bat Skirt from Rita Sue Clothing
Spooksville Bat Skirt by Sourpuss in Red or Green– sizes S, M, L, XL, 2XL – $95.00
Ok, so, honestly, this one is haunting my dreams. When Cathy from Rita Sue told me they were getting these Sourpuss skirts in I was so excited, but I didn’t think they’d sell out of my size so I didn’t ask her to put one aside for me….and I’m sure you can all see where this is going.
Anyway, aside from me not owning one, these skirts have definitely made my list of must-haves – the green one more than the red – because they are so flippin’ cute, but also because I like an occasional throwback to my goth kid days, and nothing says ‘recovering goth’ like an acid green skirt covered in bats!
Bonus Extras – Farro Foodkits
Warm Cumin Roasted Potato and Cauliflower Salad – Serves Two – $20
I love cooking, but sometimes getting home at the end of a day and opening the cupboards to find all kinds of things that don’t go together can be a little depressing. That’s why the abundance of different food kit / food bag / meal box options is fantastic, but our favourite is the Farro Foodkits, hands down. Because I am vegetarian and Tony is a fussy meat eater, finding a food box subscription that worked for both of us was always going to be tricky, but the Farro Kits are great because you go through the options at the start of each week and order the meals that appeal to you. There are plenty of vegetarian options, plenty of meat options, and kits to feed families of all sizes!
We usually order 3 or 4 meal kits in a mix of 2-person and 4-person serving sizes, so that way we will always have leftovers for lunches, and sometimes even a second dinner! Considering how little time we have, it’s a really good option, and it also means we save money on those things we buy at the supermarket that we’ll never actually use because we only half plan meals and end up missing key ingredients!
So, that’s my first-ever weekly round-up all wound up! Come back next week, I might even do it again!
